GTA 6 six-star wanted system is the piece of the Extended Look that most recaps buried under hair shaders and jet skis. Rockstar put a 26-minute silent montage on Netflix on 27 August, then on YouTube. The film does not pause to label the meter. The preview event around it did. After GTA 5 stopped at five stars, the sixth is back. That is a rank, not a trailer gag.
What the footage actually showed
BBC and WIRED both describe the same reel: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos moving through an apartment block, a package pickup that turns into a raid, then a long escape through Vice City traffic. Consequence noted scuba, jet skis, gym, basketball, skydiving — side loops, not the wanted meter. HotHardware called the first story beat a drug-den pickup that was a setup. The stars sit on top of those scenes. The film never draws a HUD callout you can screenshot as “official UI.”
Digital Foundry’s read of the same asset: the YouTube and Netflix file is 30 frames a second, and that is the performance Rockstar is showing. This page will not pretend the wanted meter runs at 60. The chase is the thing that matters. Narrow Vice City streets plus dense traffic is why TechSpot said escaping at three stars or higher inside the city is brutal.
The six-star ladder
GTA 5’s cap was five. Helicopters, NOOSE, the army flavour at the top. GTA 6 puts a sixth star back on the board. Rockstar has not published a public chart that says “star four equals tanks.” Treat any numbered loadout list you see on a forum as fan work until a manual or pause-screen dump says otherwise.
What is on the record from the preview: if police know they are chasing a couple, Jason and Lucia can split and divide the response. One body draws a block. The other walks. That is the new tool. A single protagonist in GTA 5 could not cut the heat in half by existing as two people. Focus — IGN logged it as a highlight for useful objects and police — is the other new eye. Spot the unit before the star climbs.
Wanted here works like a live rank. You feed it by being seen. You spend it by breaking line of sight, changing clothes, leaving the district, or splitting the pair. It is the opposite of a hunter letter that freezes at awakening. The Association stamps you once. Leonida restamps you every time a phone camera catches the plate.
Why Vice City makes the meter worse
Eurogamer’s size note from Rob Nelson, via TGG: the Leonida map is about twice GTA 5, about three times Red Dead 2. Vice City alone is about twice Los Santos. Suburbs around Vice City were called 11 times the inhabited slice of Los Santos. That density is why three stars inside the city is a different fight from three stars in the Grassrivers swamp.
Confirmed Leonida names around the look: Vice City, Port Gellhorn, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga National Park, Ambrosia. Wide water and park land give you room to dump a car. The downtown grid does not. Ryde Me is the taxi app IGN logged for fast travel — useful after a chase, useless in the middle of one.
What this is not
Nelson told the New York Times his February playthrough ran about 80 hours, story plus some optional beats that change the plot. That is length, not a wanted rank. Dazed and Consequence both say the Jason–Lucia relationship carries more weight than Red Dead’s honour slider. That is a second meter. It is not the star count. Bodies changing with food, gym, and sleep are a third. Do not mash those three into one “level.”
The Extended Look also does not lock a PC date. 19 November 2026 is the console window in the coverage around the film. Cyberleek leaks from the week before are not this page’s source. Rockstar called those leaks heartbreaking. Use the public 26-minute file and the on-record Nelson quotes.

Six stars. Split the couple to split the cars. Focus to see the unit. Three stars in Vice City is already a problem. Six is the ceiling GTA 5 dropped. November 19 is the street date. Until a pause-screen dump names what each star actually sends, stop at that. The meter is the rank. The city is the dungeon.
